DescriptionOrder of St Michael and St George mantle with star.jpg
English: Order of St Michael and St George mantle with star. The mantle is worn only by Knights/Dames Grand Cross of the Order on special occations and is made from blue duchesse silk satin and line with scarlet silk taffeta.
The star is worn by Knights/Dames Grand Cross and Knights/Dames Commanders of the Order. It bears the Order's motto Auspicium MeliorisÆvi ("Token of a Better Age") and an image of St Michael trampling on Satan. The depiction of a light-skinned St Michael trampling a dark-skinned Satan has become somewhat controversial, with Jamaica suspending its use.
