Summary

Description
English: This is a small section of an 1869 map of Paris which shows the location of the Théâtre Déjazet (marked blue) on the boulevard du Temple. Other theatres indicated on the map are the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin and the Ambigu-Comique (demolished 1966) on the boulevard Saint-Martin, the Folies-Dramatiques (building demolished in 1969) on the rue de Bondy (now the rue René Boulanger), the Cirque du Prince Eugène (no longer exists) on the rue du Malte, the fourth Délassements-Comiques (destroyed by fire during the Paris Commune in 1871) on the boulevard du Prince Eugène (now the Boulevard Voltaire), and the Cirque Napoleon on the rue Amelot. The title of the original map in French is: "Plan géométral de Paris et de ses agrandissements à l'échelle d'un millimètre pour 10 m". Scale: 1:10,000. (See "Paris in the 19th Century" at the University of Chicago Library website.) The original resolution (400 dpi) has been altered in this copy. A red color was removed, the image was converted to black and white, and the light levels were altered from those of the original digital copy, and a blue color indicating the location of the theatre has been added, and other alterations have been made with Photoshop Elements 4.
