Templates for linking to sister projects

From Meta

(Redirected from Sister projects)
Jump to: navigation, search

Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit organization that also hosts a range of other projects:

See also Wikimedia projectshttp://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation#Wikimedia_Coordination_and_Projects and the complete list of Wikimedia projects.

These templates are designed to provide article-to-article linking between Meta-Wiki and its Wikimedia sister projects.

This page is about coordination in the names and parameter uses in all of this kind of Wikimedia templates.

[edit] General considerations

Par is used generally in the template name to point to a concrete page name in a sister project (i.e.wikiquotepar).

Pages needing to be moved:

Links to pages on the Wikipedia site:

  • Box format
    • Template:Wikipedia (uses PAGENAME and generates a search rather than linking directly to a page — because Wiktionary article titles are fully case sensitive, this may not yield the desired result)
    • Template:Wikipediapar (uses parameter as in {{Wiktionarypar|SomePage}})

This page is a candidate to be copied to Wikibooks.
If the page can be re-written into something generally considered accepted on Meta, please do so and remove this message, or move it to some other project besides Wikibooks.

Before you move this content to Wikibooks, verify that it conforms to Wikibooks policies of acceptable content at What is Wikibooks?. Often content unacceptable to the Meta Wiki may not be acceptable on Wikibooks as well.

You should also follow Transwiki guidelines when transferring content and move the article into the transwiki namespace on Wikibooks, entering a log entry at wikibooks:Wikibooks:Transwiki log to let the people at Wikibooks know that you have new content on Wikibooks. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in the content transferred to Wikibooks to simply be deleted as vandalism and spam.
