To spread the Wikimedia movement and encourage new participants for Wiki Loves Women project, We have organized multiple one day editathons across TamilNadu. Increase the number of participation from Tamil Wikipedia in Wiki Loves Women contest is the main aim of these editathons.

Editathon-1[edit]

Organized on Salem ammapettai Boys High school on February 9.

Editathon-2[edit]

Planned on March 7 (day before women's day) on Thiruchengode KSR Arts and science college. Around 60 students from the college participated in the event. Parvathisri & Bhuvana Meenakshi lead the event along with other users like Abirami, Balu1967.

Editathon-3[edit]

We planned Madurai district level editathon on March 7. Joint Director of College education sent circular to all college in the district. And Requested students to create username and register to participate prior to event. We Expected Hundreds of participants, and without any disappointment we had 110 participants from various college across the city. Morning session kick offed with formal inauguration and wikipedia basic introductions. we had enthusiastic students edits in entire afternoon session. 5 mainspace articles were created including i was submitted in fountain. We got few active contributors then. User Neechalkaran, TNSE_Mahalingam_VNR, Thiyagu_Ganesh & Mohammed_Ammar joined their hands to support the edithathon. Meenakshi College Management and Thenpulam Trust supported from back to back to have successful event. Editathon-4[edit]

Cancelled due to corona lockdown

Objectives[edit]

Short-term:

  • Participants get to know about basics of wikimedia projects
  • Participants get more clarity on Wikipedia editing.
  • participation for wiki Loves Women

Long-term:

  • New active contributors
