GLAM School/Topics/Curriculum

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

What could a course or a curriculum look like for learning GLAM skills? What formats are out there? A masterclass, a summer school, a residency?

Learning about the principles and practices of contributing to the commons (Q9828451) should also be included in university studies in several domains.

Certificates and proofs may be important in some contexts.

Is structured learning necessary?[edit]

The Let's Connect interview report notes that different people have different needs regarding a more structured approach for learning, and that some level of internal or external expertise may be need to provide more in-depth guidance.[1]

What formats can a GLAM curriculum have?[edit]

Chapters would like to gain skills using Wikidata.[2]

GLAM in a curriculum[edit]

Certificates and proofs[edit]

Demonstrating what you have learned is useful for many purposes. For example, a Wikimedia trainer can prep up their knowledge of open licenses and have a certificate acknowledging that. Different kinds of contributors lack different knowledge in their skillsets. The need may be technical, or for example understanding of the workflows of a GLAM environment.
