Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

When you copy the URL of article with cyrylic letters you receive next abrakadabra in URL

https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A3%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%97%D0%BD%D0%B0 or https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%BE%D0%BD%D1%83%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%82_%D0%99%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%B3%D1%83%D0%BD%D1%96

So you can not understad what this link is about or is it worth to open it.

What is your solution?[edit]

I propose to have additional link in menu - "Get Latinized URL of article" under this link you will have transliterated to latin alphabet URL of article.

And those two URLs will be copied and pasted like this https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrayina

https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_Yonaguni

Now it is obvious what the URL is about. It this case even for non-ukrainian speakers.

Project goals[edit]

  1. Have additional link in menu - "Get Latinized URL of article"
  2. Have a checkbox in Settings: "Show Latinized URLs of article".
