Wikimedia Gender Disparity Awareness Campaign
Many women around the world are passionate about the Feminism movement. When presented with the shocking statistic that so few of their gender are Wikimedia authors, they will want to rectify it. Awareness is the key to the solution of this problem.

Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

A natural bias has the tendency to arise when more than 80% of a database's authorship are of one gender.

What is your solution?[edit]

Tell people around the world about this awful statistic!

  • Agree. Related to this idea. Langus-TxT (talk) 17:20, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
  • Lack of awareness or ignorance or misperception of the "gender gap" may be one of the reasons why relatively few women contribute. Before actually launching a campaign to rectify this, I'd make sure that it actually is a problem, see Grants:IdeaLab/Survey_women_who_don't_contribute. Rainer (talk) 23:40, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
