Project Goal[edit]

Choose one or more of the following goals. You can add or delete goals as needed.

  1. Add or improve content
  2. Recruit new editors
  3. Engage existing editors
  4. Add photographs on Wikimedia Commons

Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

The main focus of this initiative is not only to add quality images to articles in Fulfulde Wikipedia and Commons, but also to fill the gap of important topics about local natural heritage and scenic landscape, natural sites such as forests, parks, gardens, rocks, caves, etc on Fulfude Wikipedia.

The program is divided into three segments; First is a training workshop/edit-a-thon on how to edit articles on Fulfulde Wikipedia and how to upload photos on Wikimedia Common followed by the article writing contest in Fulfulde Wikipedia and the locally organized Wiki Loves Earth 2022 Photo Contest. The article contest will run in the month of May. All participants will have to improve/create quality articles from the above specified areas, and submitted them by June 10th. Photos uploaded during the event will be used to enter the Wiki Loves Earth global contests. So both the three segments (Edit-a-thon, article contest and Wiki Loves Earth photo contest) have specific numerical success targets in terms of quantity and quality improvement.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We'll promote the contests through social media channels (such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Faceboo ete), will send the press release to the media especially online newspapers and for photo contest we'll hold in-person meetings with different photography clubs in the community.

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

They will know about the contest through social media platforms and some via phone call. For WLE, We will form a jury consisting noted photographers, photojournalists and veteran Wikimedians.

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

For Article Contest The jury will judge individual entries and award them based on the design criteria set by the judges. For article contest, the rule is simple one should translate the English article completely into Fulfulde. Veteran Fulfude-speakers/Wikimedians are judging the articles by following the rules set on this page.

Scoring Template: Five points (2.0) would be awarded for every new article translated. One point (1.0) for every quality source or Citation used in an existing Wikipedia article. Two points (2.0) for quality (includes using the appropriate intonations, grammar etc.) In addition, outreach Dashboard and the hashtag #WLE2022 will be used to measure the contributions which will also help us to achieve an excellent Jury procedure. The Prizes will be a Brand Android Smart Phone for 1st and second winners, and Smart Watch for third place. I will also give out branded Wikipedia T-shirts to the top five contributing participants.

For Photo Contest The rules such as ensuring that all photos participating in the competition must be self-taken and self-uploaded, declining/rejecting personal photos; such as group photographs, modeling photographs and selfie are some of the rules judges will announced to the participants of photo contest.

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Yes, the file is here.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

If this project is approved, it will serve as a starting journey towards developing the Fulfulde language Wikipedia.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:
