  • I want to create awareness of #1Lib1RefNG to friends of the library through editing and creating of contents to Wikipedia. Friends of the library are lecturers, that regularly use the library.

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I am planning one edit-a-thon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

This project has been announced on the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Talk Page.

The project will also be announced on social media platforms such as SPURG and Enugu hub Wikipedia community WhatsApp platform.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Through WhatsApp, Telephone calls, and oral communication and Library users mailing list.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:Kaizenify

Myself, User: Ezimoo, User: Ngozi Osadebe and User: Beatrice Ewa. These people had been Wikipedia edit-a-thon facilitators since 2017 till date.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, almost all the participants have personal laptops. Also, the library has many computer laboratories which can be used for the event. However, due to the unstable internet access participants may require data. The participants have acquired reasonable skills to contribute quality content to Wikipedia

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

After the event, participants will be engaged through bi-monthly meet-ups.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This program will be a forum for friends of the Library (Library users ) to contribute to open knowledge?
