  • In line with the Wiki Loves Monument Campaign, this project aims to increase the visibility of some historical sites in Nigeria by capturing and uploading their photos on the Wikimedia pages for the benefit of all.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Yes, it will be a one-time training where the participants will be trained on how to upload pictures taken during the Photo-Walk on the WikiCommons Page.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The information will be disseminated on the already existing NYSC Digital Onboard CDS WhatsApp Group and other relevant social media handles.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Fliers and various Broadcast message will be published on various social media platforms.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will engage participants after the event by adding each to the Wikimedia User Groups they deem fit to work and contribute in for active participation. There will be follow-ups and seminars to teach and enlighten them on how to contribute to Wikipedia.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This event will focus on freely licensed and high quality images of Nigeria Monuments, that will be contributed to Wikimedia Common for free usage.
  • Images of Nigeria monuments, archaeological sites, and cultural heritage are not adequately covered on Wikimedia Common. This contest is an opportunity to contribute high quality images of these monuments, archaeological sites, and cultural heritage to Wikimedia Common.
  • This project if approved, will contribute to the goal of the Wiki Loves Monument Campaign - increasing the visibility of various historical sites in Nigeria.

How do you plan to track your project metrics? A dashboard will be created for this and this dashboard will be uploaded under the Wiki Loves Monument Category which will be used to track the uploads.
