I am doing one edit-a-thon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using. This programme has been announced on the Wikipedia Nigeria Talk page: https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria#Rural_Library_Connect It has also been announced at the Librarians outreach community platform 3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will be use WhatsApp, Email, Facebook to let communicate with participants.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

Yes, I am an experienced Wikipedia edit-a-thon facilitator. I work side by side with User: Ngozi osadebe in all Wikipedia events at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Other experienced Wikipedians such as user, User:Ngozi osadebe, User:Ugoji John, and otherothershigh-qualitycontenthigh-quality are available to help me.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, the participants have the skills needed to contribute high-quality content. Many of the participants have been participating in Wikipedia events at the University. Furthermore, there will be a refresher training a day before the main editing event. Regarding the equipment, the University library has a computer laboratory which can be used for the programme.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will keep in touch with the participants through the online platforms earlier listed.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this projectat

The world is fast changing, and information is power. with information, one can make an informed decision.


Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events = 2 days
  2. Number of participants = 17
  3. Number of new editors = 7
  4. Number of of articles created or improved = 24
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)= 24

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

We have good facilitators, functional computer laboratories, personal laptops, University internet and electricity power supply. This project is being organized by myself user: Beatrice Ewa. I will call on my colleagues in the department to join the programme. I will do all logistics duties required for a successful outcome. This includes identifying the hall, publicity, and contacting other facilitators. I will also identify people to manage light refreshment on the days on the events. I will not receive any support anywhere else for this programme.

3. Diesel for stand-by Gen for 2 days, 30 liters at ₦750 per liters = ₦22,500
4. lunch light refreshment ₦2000 plate X 24 X 2 days= ₦96,000
5. Water for 20 people at ₦1000 per carton (for 2days), = ₦4000
6. Malt Drink for 20 peoples ₦9000
7. Flax banner 2 at N8,000 = ₦16,000
8. Cleaner = 2000 a day X 2 = ₦4,000
8. Gift Items at 300 per person X 24 = ₦7200
Total NGN198,700 (One hundred and ninety-eight thousand, seven hundred naira) only
