Grants:Wikimedia UG Nigeria Grants/Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Community Support Fund/Wikipedia Anambra Network Meet Up

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary[edit]

The Wikipedia Anambra Network was established in September 2022 to support the goals of Wikipedia User Group Nigeria in sustaining Wikimedia awareness and programs in Anambra State. This is the first meet up with the community members to evaluate and re-strategize for the New Year. Experiences and observations show that many members of Wikipedia Anambra Network are new to Wikipedia and its principles. They do not seem to understand the nuances behind editing and sustaining a network. They seem to lack committment and determnation to move the Network forward. Thus, it becomes necessary that everyone is brough on the same knowledge and committment. Being a new Network, there is need to mentor, encourage, create more awareness, talk about the principles and give more insights into Wikimedia, as well as answer questions on issues of Wikipedia and its activities.

It is a one off meetup that will include practices of Wikicommons. It will create space for the network to chart activities for the New Year and enable members to learn and improve in their edits and the new programs. Indeed, it will be an interactive session in deciding what to continue doing, stop doing and start doing (continue-stop-start exercise). The continue-stop-start exercise will guide the discussion of the meeting for a successful outcome. It is also hoped that an action plan will come out of this meet up for improvement of the Network and persona development of the members.
