Midpoint Report accepted[edit]

Dear Mathieugp,

Thank you for submitting this Midpoint Report. I am accepting it now with the following comments:

  • Thanks for being open about the obstacles you have faced that have led to delays. Know that if you need a deadline extension for the project end date, you are very welcome to use the extension request button again.
  • Great to hear that your post-event surveys are so positive. Curious if you got any insights into what is making them work so well?
  • I'm glad to hear that you are planning to publicize your educational video content with the help of your partners and the Francophone Wikipedian community. It sounds like you have put a lot of effort into the quality of these resources and so we want to make sure that as many folks as possible who need them can find them. You may be already planning this, but it would be very helpful if you could provide a very short guide to how each video should be used (e.g. short summary of the content, the intended audience that would benefit from, and how best to use the video). As soon as you have your strategy for socializing the videos in place, please let me know and I will share the videos with other staff working with French communities.
  • Following up on the last question... Do you believe the materials you created would be relevant for French-speaking communities based in countries in Africa? Or is there any way in which they may be contextually specific to a North American context? It would be helpful to understand the reach of their relevance so we make sure to share them where they will be useful, and not where they won't apply.
  • I really hear how much more difficult this project became because of the constraints of the pandemic. I appreciate that you have been able to significantly overcome these challenges and find ways to make your project move ahead anyway. Thanks for you hard work to make that true.

Thank you so much for all your work. Our grants administrator will be reaching out to you about the second disbursement.

Warm regards,

Thanks for your encouraging comments Marti. Regarding the fact that our post-event surveys are so positive, we can provide the following points, which, we believe, explain the good results :
  • We have been organizing and providing online training for a year now, so we have acquired experience that ensures that the quality of training has not stopped improving.
  • Since covid 19 forces many people to telecommute, many are much more accustomed to the technical aspects and the small hazards that this can cause. Hence, among other things, we benefit from this literacy in technicalities related to online training.

Regarding the publicization of our educational videos, we are indeed planning to involve our various partners in order to make them known as many people as possible and we will make sure to provide the most precise description possible, in French and in English, for each part of our tutorials. We will for sure create a summary for each part, which will appears on Wikimedia Commons and our Youtube channel. Moreover and most importantly, the Fondation Lionel-Groulx hired a marketing and communication specialist. Prune Paycha will be of great help to us in creating promotional material to publicize our tutorials.

The materials would definitely be relevant for French-speaking communities based in countries in Africa and even in the whole Francophonie. We made sure that the tutorials could benefit the widest possible audience outside of French-speaking North America, or even Quebec. --JBouchez (talk) 19:14, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
