Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Mompati Dikunwane, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. It is great to see that you are planning to organize the first Wiki Loves Earth contest in Botswana! I have reviewed this proposal and have the following questions and comments.

  • You have mentioned that you would organize photo walks to the protected areas. Are these photo walks going to be individual or group ones? Please note that we do not fund any in-person and group activities.
  • Could you please confirm that besides the photo hunts no other offline (in-person) activities will be carried out in terms of this project?
  • One of your goals for this project is to raise awareness about nature preservation through the photographs. Could you please provide more information on how you are going to do this?
  • You have mentioned that three jury members would be involved in this project. Who will be selected as jury members?
  • Could you please add the total requested amount in your local currency (Botswana pula) to the probox?
  • For how many participants do you plan to cover the internet costs during the contest and closing ceremony?

Thanks again for your contribution to the Wikimedia Movement. I look forward to your responses. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:50, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thank you so much for you questions and comments on this proposal. well i confirm that there will be no offline activities carried out in terms of this project apart from individual visits to protected areas due to the on-going global pandemic. We are going to raise awareness about nature preservation by uploading photos of nature to Wikimedia commons so that people may experience things they may not see themselves through Wikimedia projects. Jury members are yet to be selected, we shall seek people with good expertise in areas of multimedia and photography to act as our Judges. The internet subscription is planned to be allocated to 25 people because we do not know internet connectivity issues we might face, so we cater for most of our participants.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF) i would like to request a new start and end date for this grant, i am confident that you understand the reason for change of dates as per our discussion in our last email thread (Delay in desbursement of funds by the Citi bank).

New dates 10 October and 21 October 2020

Regards. Mompati Dikunwane
