Dear Emmanuel Obiajulu,

Thank you for submitting this grant application. The Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria community Support Fund Committee has reviewed your application, and they have some follow-up questions and requests regarding your application:

  • Are there places in Imo state that could have been visited rather than traveling outside the state? As we also have a community in Enugu state and will only support applications within the grantee host state.
  • The number of pictures to be uploaded is relatively small compared to the number of proposed tourist attractions and notable places to be visited; can you adjust this, please?
  • We also feel the bus hiring to Enugu could have been better economized if a location in Imo is used instead.
  • Lastly, please remove the communication and internet support for organizers as we feel the logistics cost for organizers will be enough.

We look forward to your response and thank you for your work within the Wikimedia Nigeria movement.

On behalf of the WUGN Community Support Fund Committee. All the best, Ayokanmi (WUGN) (talk) 12:47, 3 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ayokanmi (WUGN),

Thank you for your feedback and questions.

1. Are there places in Imo state that could have been visited rather than traveling outside the state? As we also have a community in Enugu state and will only support applications within the grantee host state.

As at the time of inception of our community, we instituted one of our core objectives to include covering/building knowledge related to the whole south east region. Beyond this, it's also about a place that resonates with the spirit of independence day, which is the reason for this event, given that it's one of the unity museums in Nigeria and the only one in south east. It's also about a place where we can be granted access to take pictures and already secured an understanding with them on this.

2. The number of pictures to be uploaded is relatively small compared to the number of proposed tourist attractions and notable places to be visited; can you adjust this, please?

The number have been adjusted.

3. We also feel the bus hiring to Enugu could have been better economized if a location in Imo is used instead.

Please refer to our answer to the first question which also answers this.

4. Lastly, please remove the communication and internet support for organizers as we feel the logistics cost for organizers will be enough.

Given that it's a growing community and to ensure efficiency, we usually assign a certain number of organizers, in this case three (3) to a particular event. This is also as a way of growing their skills as community organizers. The logistics here includes transportation fare to find and hire a bus/car that will be in good condition to travel, food/drink arrangements during the events (photowalk and upload session), preparation/liasing with the host organization for the photowalk among others all through the planning, event and upload phases.

The communication and internet support will support necessary calls to community members, meetings for organizers, report writing stage, and uploads for the photographer who will be uploading lots of images that tell evidenced stories of the event on commons which will be used in our reporting stage. This will also include support for our technical guy that helps community members that requires alot of handholding during the upload session and working with dashboard which could be problematic at times to ensure everything is working effectively.
