Deliberations[edit]

The department of Computer Applications of SDM College of Business Management and Karavali Wikimedians User Group, Mangaluru in association with Centre for Internet and Society, Access to Knowledge (CIS/A2K), Bengaluru organized One day National Level Wikipedia Workshop “SDM-Neophyte: Unlocking Knowledge, Igniting Curiosity” on 16-03-2024. Ms. Chris, Communications Associate at CIS-A2K, Bengaluru inaugurated the programme. Ms. Nitesh Gill, Programme Officer at CIS-A2K, Bengaluru was the chief guest.

The objective of this workshop is:

  • To introduce new editors to Wikipedia
  • To create new articles, how to translate articles from other Wikipedia pages
  • To know the editing of existing article to improve the quality and
  • To learn the usage of various templates

Ms. Gill, in her inaugural speech conveyed that one should involve ourselves to write articles to Wikimedia unlock knowledge, not only for ourselves but for the benefit of all, ignite curiosity, inspiring others to join us on the exhilarating journey of exploration and learning. Ms. Nitesh Gill informed participants to spend a little time every day to write something in their regional language every day and to push the boundaries of knowledge and create a brighter future for generations to come. Prof. Aruna P Kamath, in her presidential speech, explained the importance of the workshop. Dr. Vishwanatha Badikana, President, Karavali WIkimedians User Group, Dr. Kishore Kumar Rai, Treasurer, Karavali Wikimedians User Group, Mrs. Kavitha Member Karavali WIkimedians User Group, Faculties from the college and other institutions, student participants from other institutions were present. Ms. Yakshitha, App Developer, Accenture Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Pune was the resource person. The programme was co-ordinated by Mr. Arun F Sequeira, Ms. Rachna Shenoy Compeered the programme. Mr. Ashish welcomed and Ms. Vinisha proposed vote of thanks.
