Requests for comment/Enable Narayam on Meta Wiki
The following request for comments is closed. Done, bugzilla:32014.
I am an ml.wiki editor. I usually come here for translations only. Many other ml editors are interested in translations of fund raising etc. But the major hurdle is nonavailability of IME. We have in ml wikis, the extension Narayam is enabled to solve this problem. Also Narayam is enabled in many indic language wikis.
Please express your views on enabling extension Narayam in Meta WIki.
At present many indic scripts are supported by Narayam and we can attract more and better translators from those languages, if it is enabled here.
It is also be noted that, normal users of Meta will see no changes in their interface by enabling Narayam. Only the users with their interface language is supported by Narayam will get options for IME. This can be tested at Translatewiki; Narayam is enabled there.

- Is there a reason why this isn't enabled everywhere? Seb az86556 02:41, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I think, it is enabled on requirement basis only. --Vssun 03:47, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- The primary reason why it is not enabled everywhere is that the user interface needs some rework (we have great plans for that), and that the key mappings themselves are not documented at all (unless one would call code "self documenting"). This is something we plan to address with the WMF Localisation team first, before we want to move to "enabled by default". But first... mw:Extension:WebFonts! --Siebrand 21:17, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
