The language committee needs to verify the language is eligible to be approved.
- Check that the project does not already exist (see list).
- Obtain an ISO 639 code
- Ensure the requested language is sufficiently unique that it could not exist on a more general wiki.
- Ensure that there are a sufficient number of native editors of that language to merit an edition in that language.

- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

It will be useful to Khowar internet users to report news from worldwide. Approximately, there are 10 million of speakers worldwide. I strongly feel it deserves its own Wikinews.--Rehmat Aziz Chitrali 1:42, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

General discussion [edit]
- The following is in the English-language article on Khowar: "...the only major literary usage of Khowar is in poetry composition." Is this true? If not--it should be changed right away. If so, then it seems that this project will not only be an attempt to provide Khowar-language content, but (in essence) a project to establish a Khowar prose standard. This seems quite a mandate for Wikimedia. Should it be taken up? Doprendek 19:31, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- The English-language article on Khowar: "...the only major literary usage of Khowar is in poetry composition." is not true. Khowar is written in both prose and poetry. I recommend that Khowar Wikinews may kindly be started-- Rehmat Aziz Chitrali 07:36, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
