This page documents a proposed research project.
Information may be incomplete and may change before the project starts.

This project aims to enhance collaboration among users participating in Wikipedia projects by developing a plugin or user script. The result will be a plugin/user script/software that assists editors in identifying online collaborators who share similar interests in specific topics.

Methods[edit]

Any user can detect their online partners based on keywords extracted from the article categories in which they participated. Then, the plugin will compare the semantic similarity of keywords between that user and others to rank the proper partners.

In order to safeguard user privacy, the plugin includes a feature that enables users to toggle the ability for others to locate them on and off. Additionally, user discoveries are randomly generated from those who are currently online, preventing the recurrence of finding the same users.

Timeline[edit]

January 2024 - May 2024

Policy, Ethics, and Human Subjects Research[edit]

Our work is based on Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy and Wikimedia Friendly Space.

Results[edit]

At this stage, we have not decided on the project outcome. It can be a plugin a user script, or even an external software that help users to find their partners.
