Semi-protection

Semi-protection of a page is a technical measure, similar to protection, that prevents new and unregistered users from editing that page.

Every project that desires semi-protection to be enabled should draft a semi-protection policy that follows the project's needs. However, Semi-protection:

  • Is not intended to prohibit anonymous editing in general.
  • Is not intended for pre-emptive protection of articles that might get vandalized.

In the English Wikipedia, there was a straw poll which received about a 96% support (link). Jimbo has also expressed his support. [1]
