Talk:Community point of view

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Talk page archives:

My opinion? CPOV policy not necessary.[edit]

It seems unnecessary to me, because:

  • we have a {{personal opinion}} tag to mark things that look like community consensus but are not.
  • several members of the Wikimedia community do not edit Meta much.
  • some pages of cross-project interest (be bold is an example) might represent consensus on one project but not another.
  • some pages (privacy policy, new project policy, ...) are more from the Wikimedia Foundation than from the community.
  • we can "edit" pages, adding additional points of view or changing the points of view.
  • we can already remove or delete text from trolls and vandals.

The assumption behind the Community point of view was that everything in DocumentMode on this wiki must represent community consensus. --Kernigh 21:04, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
