An idea

If this does get released (which is unlikely, unless we decide that almost anything would sound better than "MW 1.100"), it should be called "MediaWiki²" (in English, pronounced "MediaWiki squared", "MediaWiki to the power of two", or just "MediaWiki two"). The sub-version numbering could be done in a matter similar to that of X11, as in "MediaWiki² Release 24.7" (or for the public alpha builds used on the Wikimedia wikis, "MediaWiki² Release 33.1-wmf.3"); this could be abbreviated to "MW2R24.7" (without the superscript).
