Gender Gap[edit]

Would you mind to clarify the sentence "Our goal by 2030 is to eliminate the gender gap and focus on the inclusion of underrepresented groups in our communities and projects."? Since I haven't found an explanation within the recommendations I wonder if the term gender gap here relates to contributors or to content (like demonstrated in this analysis for Wikidata). @MPourzaki (WMF):, who could clarify? Alice Wiegand (talk) 19:58, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Alice, great to hear from you and thanks for the ping. Eliminating the gender gap would be prioritizing both content and contributors. The quoted sentence was a later addition in the introduction as it was felt that gender as a key priority still needed to be made more prominent and explicit in the document. In terms of contributors, recommendations 2 and 3 on improving user experience and providing for safety and inclusion address gender disparity, respectively. Ensure equity in decision-making also talks about underrepresented profiles. We didn't have consensus amongst the writers as to explicitly list groups or not, other than in the glossary. In terms of content, recommendation 8 would be our go-to reference in identifying topics for impact. The principle of inclusivity and participatory decision-making would be a key reference as well. Let me know if further clarity is needed. Thanks for being here :) MPourzaki (WMF) (talk) 21:02, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, that helps. Alice Wiegand (talk) 21:14, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello everyone,

This is an invitation to all Movement Strategy participants to try out a new space for truly multilingual collaboration:  https://forum.movement-strategy.org/

Please join the Movement Strategy Forum and say "hi" to the community here.

We are starting a community review period of two months. If the community feedback is positive, the Forum will launch in August 2022 before Wikimania. If not, we will follow the feedback received, changing the proposal or closing it.

Looking forward to your first impressions!
