It is suggested that be offered, more prominently, something to do to help Wikipedia that fits any level of interest beyond just helping by editing.

Wikipedia's the coolest thing since cheese in a can, but the self-promotion job is somewhat wanting.

Just starting to put together a proposal here/below. Please sign below or somewhere if interested.

I'd like to see this project head in direction of a HOWTO Promote Wikipedia.org, and/or WikiMedia depending on how the Scope question gets answered, with a probable fork semi-immediately to Ways To Help & Promote Wikipedia.

I'd like to see it retain a focus on the brand newbie to Wikipedia, regardless how in-depth it ever stretches.

  • E.g. -> "Ways to help" link somewhere(s) prominent. Then simple direction
    • 'get busy editing something'
    • from something as simple as 'tell a friend,' or refer to Wikipedia articles to
    • add www.wikipedia.org to your email signature file to
    • link to Wikipedia (esp. as part of putsch for #1 on google.com)
      • 'here's a roadmap for becoming an experienced editor' to
        • SpreadingWikipedia.???
        • 'if you have specific experience that can help in promoting Wikipedia (andor WikiMedia)..' (marketing, PR etc., to
        • give or get WikiMedia money / fundraising stuff.

Comments?:[edit]

    • The servers can not even deal very good whit the currect load. Please not more traffic! Walter
Server load issues shouldn't be addressed by avoiding improving the visibility of the site as a whole. This might not need to live on it's own domain, but a "ways to help" section might be worthwhile.

(new projects howto is here)

This is the project proposal form:
