Password[edit]

How can I recover a lost password? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:29, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

+1. How can I save a password in e-mail at all? I've registered already 2 times and now again I can't find the password. Infovarius (talk) 13:34, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You can create a new TUSC password any time here. TUSC passwords have no relation to e-mail, and in light of hacking and PRISM it might not be the best idea to send passwords via e-mail in general. --Magnus Manske (talk) 10:28, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot create account[edit]

I'm trying to use [1] to create an account. I enter my details (on en.wp or commons), click the 'edit' button which opens a new tab set to edit the page, which I edit, save and close. But it continues 'Checking for edit/waiting for edit'. Tried it a few times with both commons and WP with no success. I'm using the latest Safari on Mac OS.--JohnBlackburne (talk) 23:53, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

same here on win7/chrome. Teemeah (talk) 18:42, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
JohnBlackburne, I looked at your attempts on Commons, and you removed the header line which contains the token. "Subject/headline:" should look like "TUSC token: 78281376ae34ffdbbb6ba966aa24f0ac" when you click on the Big Blue Button on the TUSC page. Please leave that line as it is, otherwise it won't work. --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:34, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Another user on et.wikipedia also reports that one's having trouble with creating an account. I tried creating a new account myself using FF 24 but the fields in Commons edit window are empty not pre-filled. Pikne 12:02, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
I just tried again in Firefox 24, both http and https. Both work for me. Do you have any adblocker active? Maybe an XSS alert or the like? If you open the JavaScript console (Tools/Web developer/Web console), do you see any error messages? I can't fix any bugs if I am unable to reproduce them. --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:13, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disabling plugins didn't help. Commons edit window has following JS related warnings:

--Pikne 12:32, 1 October 2013 (UTC) That looks all fine. What about the JS on the TUSC page? --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:38, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also warnings, but no errors. Another et.wiki user mentioned above also doesn't get pre-filled fields. Pikne 14:12, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

It's not working for me either. I'm using Google Chrome on W7.--Bill william compton (talk) 05:36, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried again for both User:Pikne and User:Bill william compton on commons (without saving anything!). Worked perfectly for both, in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. At this point, I can only suggest some general things:
  • Try generating a TUSC login for a different user (e.g. "Magnus Manske"), just to see if you can get the token in "Subject/headline:"
  • Try being logged in / logged out on Commons before trying TUSC
  • Try a different project (not commons/wikimedia)
  • Try a different browser
  • Try a different machine

Sorry, but unless I can see the error, or at least get some specific condition when it doesn't work, I can't figure out what's wrong with it (if there is). --Magnus Manske (talk) 07:58, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't know if this is any help, but if I log out I do get pre-filled fields on e.g. et.wikibooks and fi.wikipedia, but not on e.g. et.wikipedia, en.wiktionary and commons, that is regardless of the username used. If I log in then I don't get pre-filled fields anywhere. Pikne 10:10, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi Magnus Manske, I've tried everything you said but unfortunately it didn't work! It works perfectly when I'm not login. Can I use this token?--Bill william compton (talk) 17:21, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you should be able to copy the token you get when logged out, then immediately log in, and add a new section on your user page with the token as subject. --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:31, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(Note that at this moment, PHP and therefore most tools won't work on Labs. Maybe wait an hour or two.) --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:31, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently it's working now. Thanks for your help though.--Bill william compton (talk) 14:55, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just to say we've also been seeing the same problems as above on Commons, initially reported at commons:COM:VP#TUSC account creation problem and today problems logging in to existing TUSC accounts. I will try again sometime later. Thank you. Rept0n1x (talk) 06:59, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
My existing TUSC account is working again now. Also creating a new TUSC account is now generating required token in the "Editing User" form, so it appears to be fixed. Thanks very much! Rept0n1x (talk) 16:19, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have the same problem with the account creation. I'm not sure how is it for JohnBlackburne, but the issue is that in Chrome 29.0.1547.76m on Windows the edit page appears without any token in "Subject/headline:" and without any text in the content field. However, it worked fine for me in Firefox. —Volgar (talk) 09:55, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I tested TUSC account creation again today and the original problem re-occured - no token in the subject/headline, although it worked fine for me yesterday. I used Firefox both times. Regards, Rept0n1x (talk) 17:19, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am having the same problem, too: trying to create an account, clicking the blue button opens a commons edit window but the edit for does not auto-populate w/ any text from TUSC. Running latest non-beta version of Chrome, w/ ABP installed...then if I log out and click the button the new window opens w/ the info auto-populated... I don't really understand[edit]

I went to http://tools.wmflabs.org/tusc/ and tried to register a new account with en, wikipedia, Debresser and a password. I made an edit, and closed the tab. But the page is still flashing "Waiting for edit..."/"Checking for edit...".

Also, I already have a TUSC token since 2009: 20c9f322ebc5b8e1009a90c36867a16e. What does that help me? I don't seem to be able to log in anyhow.

And finally, I want my account to be global, just as my user account. How do I do that? Debresser (talk) 02:55, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It now registered my account, but the page refuses to log me in. Debresser (talk) 22:30, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to create new account[edit]

I am running Firefox 26. I have been trying for several days to create a new account at http://tools.wmflabs.org/tusc/, but with no luck. Seems to be the same issue as experienced by other users above. I have tried when I am logged in/out, and have also tried using Explorer. Should there be a button to click to send the info for registration? These are the firlds I have been filling in:

"Language" ("en" or "commons")
"Project" ("wikipedia" or "wikimedia")
"User name there" (Dolovis)
TUSC password: ******* (new TUSC password)
TUSC password: ******* (retype new TUSC password)
and...... nothing happens. What else should I be doing?? Am I missing something? Dolovis (talk) 13:57, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to create account[edit]

Have the same problem. Created an account on commons.wikimedia, and nothing happened. Tried to verify and it gives me "0" as result. Of course any attempt to login is useless. -- Blackcat (talk) 12:36, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

problem[edit]

i have a problem; because my username written in arabic alphabets, and when i confirm the account it goes to this page, not my page in commons.--محمد الفلسطيني (talk) 07:00, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What is my login?[edit]

Is it my wikipedia-username? Is it that token with about thirty signs in my w:userpage? Or anything else? Where is that explained?
