After November 6th, all the wikis will feature the tool to edit TemplateData. [1] [2] [3] (just a placeholder. not sure which link is preferred between Gerrit and Bugzilla. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 13:06, 13 October 2014 (UTC) )Reply

Feel free to add it to the page directly :) Guillaume (WMF) (talk) 15:06, 13 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Since this is a change which affects almost all the WMF wikis, I thought about announcing it twice in Tech News (so... yesterday, and on Nov 3rd again). Is this something you wouldn't recommend? Thanks, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 09:20, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
In case of a very disruptive change (for example, disabling JavaScript for all IE6 users on all wikis), it can be a good idea to announce it twice to give people advance notice. But in this case, my understanding is that we will be providing an additional (and better) tool. It will make editing templates easier, but it won't remove existing functionality. So, if my understanding is correct, I think announcing it once is sufficient. Guillaume (WMF) (talk) 13:51, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I hope someone will add a note about yesterday's issue with coordinates. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 09:33, 28 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what this is. Do you have more information? Guillaume (WMF) (talk) 17:53, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
It's https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72559. Not sure if devs/ops documented this more widely, but occurred at least a couple of times and was widely noticed this week. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 18:16, 31 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

new version of MediaWiki[edit]

According to the Roadmap, it's MediaWiki 1.25/wmf6 that will be on all Wikipedias from November 5, and not MediaWiki 1.25/wmf5. – Zebulon84 (talk) 20:15, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
