Actually, it might be a good idea to have two deputies: Deputy Chair on Failure and Deputy Chair on Success. --Oop (talk) 04:03, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thought from Fae[edit]

It looks as though folks are having a difficult time of it. Reflecting on my experience as the first Chair, I would say it was a stressful and almost completely thankless task for an unpaid volunteer to take on. In creating something new, I suggest we ensure that at heart it encourages volunteers to join in and recognize them for outcomes they deliver that benefit the movement. Pushing for leadership and organization is good, but less important that keeping those few of us that are capable and get on with delivering positive outcomes.

I am disappointed that WMUK does not appear to be represented today, considering that several UK volunteers were sponsored to attend in Hong Kong. My understanding, and probably that of other members of the charity, was that after removing me as the WCAC representative, the chapter would continue to take part and have a voice in the future of the WCA.

I recommend everyone have a good time socializing in HK, and consider how best to leverage the great network of volunteers we have for the benefit of open knowledge, whether this is within a WCA type framework or not. I look forward to working with you on our projects in the future, the hats we wear while doing so are not that important. Cheers -- (talk) 10:21, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
