Hello there. I am the user Anonymous Dissident (sysop; bureaucrat) — edits, talk, subpages. This is my interwiki home-page.
About me
I am a 14-year-old male living on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia. My involvement with Wikimedia began on January 17, 2007, when I made my first edit to the English Wikipedia. I quickly became engrossed in the process of writing encyclopedia articles – something I still enjoy nowadays. In early September, I was trusted with the Sysop access.
I am now a contributor to a number of Wikimedia wikis. I believe Wikimedia to be a project whose potential and scope extend far beyond Wikipedia. I am a strong proponent of the nurturing of the smaller and little-known projects, and the broadcasting of their worth on the larger wikis.
I hold a strong philosophy towards what I am doing on Wikimedia. I truly believe that the collaboration as a whole has the power to fulfil its vision, and to make a very real and very positive mark on society. Much academic and societal apprehension surrounds the Wikimedia projects; an alarming number of people are convinced the wiki concept is doomed to failure. It is my hope that doubts about Wikimedia's usefulness will be quelled in the long run, and that the general public will be able to embrace the wiki idea while appreciating that Wikimedia is – and always will be – a work in progress. The projects have grown enormously since their inception, and they continue to grow. My central purpose is to further that growth as much as I can as an editor. Everything else is incidental to that.
