From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
  • are you disrupting the project in order to make a point.
    • no, i am here to create a free encyclopedia, with the sum of all human knowledge. the disruption lies with those who would burn down the village in order to save it.
  • are you invoking IAR. and breaking rules.
    • no, i am making a good faith effort to comply with rules. we have a cadre of admins who substitute their own judgement and ideology, over the clear written policy, and community consensus.
  • but aren't you evading a block, and not following the appeal process.
    • given the block in direct violation of the block policy, and the expressed intention to oppose all unblocks, despite the false promise of fresh start, i can have no confidence in a fair appeal process here.
  • isn't it unfortunate that socks should make admins behave like assholes.
    • isn't it unfortunate that assholes by their blocks, perceived to be unfair, should create socking behavior.
  • what about all the thousands of wasted hours by admins chasing socks?
    • what about all the thousands of wasted hours by librarians trying to improve wikipedia, now including the head of the hispanic division at the library of congress.
  • why won't you collaborate with admins?
    • i win awards for collaboration. those admins whose choose to collaborate by battleground, i can accommodate.
  • aren't you just here to prove how good you are
    • no, i am here to prove how evil certain other people are; the projection of motives is in bad faith; in a larger sense, the arguing about intent is a distraction to justify the evil acts of certain grand inquisitors. good editors are abused by them every day.
  • why do you have such a bad attitude.
    • i adopt the culture that certain admins have set; attitude is a learned behavior; in my peer group with a happier culture, my attitude is good.
  • do you intend to seek recognition for your work.
    • no, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. but thank-you for getting my name in Wired magazine, still have my Cyber Rights Now t-shirt
  • wouldn't you agree that you should not wrestle with pigs, because you get dirty, and the pig likes it.
    • if no one wrestles with the pig, then the place becomes a pig sty.
