[edit] Congratulations, Dear Administrator!

Deutsch | English | Español | Français | Italiano | 한국어 | Nederlands | Português | Русский | edit

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Abigor, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

[edit] Removing Millosh

I really wish you had updated the pages completely. We were planning on doing all the updates on the 23rd and then again on the 27th, so that we stopped flooding the elections pages and kept them all up-to-date with the least amount of work. It's fine that you updated it, because you hadn't know about that little plan (I guess it wasn't a good one then ;-)). However, I would've preferred if you updated the page completely when you did that, now we have Ad still there but Millosh not (and Milos withdraw after Ad)... so it's a bit of a confusing mess. Would you mind going through and updating all the pages completely? (Also, you're going through Board elections/2009/Translation, right? That's probably the easiest way for you... it was for me. I open all the pages, see which ones are updated, remove them and then go back to seeing which ones need to be added.) Cbrown1023 talk 00:32, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
I didn't see that Ad withdraw himself also, otherwise I would have removed him also. I did remove Ad now, and tried to keep all pages up to date, so there is less work for you guy's on the 23th :)
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Huib talk 05:07, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for removing Millosh, but we still have the same problem. :-) "Would you mind through and updating all the pages completely?" I just looked and a few pages have 14 candidates, some have 15, etc. When you go through and remove one person, it's best to make sure that that page got all the other updates too (ie. Board elections/2009/Candidates/ca is missing Lourie). Could you go through and make sure they're all updated? If you don't want to go through yet again (you're going to have made this sweep quite a few times ;-) you probably have the candidate memorized by now :P) and see which ones are missing which, could you leave a message on user talk:Az1568 asking him to? Cbrown1023 talk 14:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
I believe I have updated all the pages now, I made a list from the /en page en that list is matching all the other pages. :D.
I hope I can still sleep tonight, in the worse case I will get nightmares about all the board candidates :(.

[edit] Lets speak English

Hello! My name's Alex and I'm from Russia. I'm learning ENglish for 2 years. And I'm looking for people who, probably, want to talk with somebody from differetn countries.

I know about 1,200 words in English, but It seems like I know nothing, I mean I have to speak or write in English, but here in Russia there are not many people who can help you.

By the way, I found you here in Wikipedia... I think we can be friends.

If you would like to talk to me just write me a letter; my e-mail : gagarinlexa@yandex.ru

Thanks you a lot!!))

Hello,
I really wanted to help you but when you need people to learn to speak English with I wouldn't be the right person, my English is very terrible, maybe not terrible but it isn't good enough.
I am very thankful that you thought about me, and I love to be your friend, but all communication should stay on-wiki since my email is private.
Sorry,
Huib talk 17:27, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Well....i see.....whe don't we just be in correspondence with each other...For example you can write me a letter to my mail, and we'll be communicate

[edit] Just in case

In your proposal to close Simple English Wikibooks you "propose to close this project and move it back into the incubator untill its strong enough for his own domain." You should keep in mind things like this. Not sure that you read it so I am letting you know to be on the safe side, just in case the process does not turn out the way you mention. Regards. --83.35.158.108 23:00, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Closure wikinews NL

I don't get it. I follow all the rules. I even asked it to bureaucrats here [1]. They advised me to create a bug. There has been votes it has been annouced, what more to do and how can i contact the langcom ??? I thought it should be fine after a voting round ?? Koektrommel 17:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

The mainproblem is that you are the nominator, I will close it again.. It doesn't look neutral otherwhise. Huib talk 17:56, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, well it's the first nomination for me, so any help will do. I thought it could be close after 6+ weeks Koektrommel 18:14, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
The bug is here Huib talk 18:18, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] SimpleWB IPBE

Sorry for the mess created: TDV has restored your IPBE. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I see that you have already resigned your sysop tools. Pmlineditor  09:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reflexes

Hi Abigor, about this Xenter thing: should something like this ever happen again, then please make sure your first reaction is to block the vandal immediately instead of starting an edit war with him. That is the only way to prevent the enormous mess this kind of vandalism creates - which takes quite some time to restore. Thank you very much in advance and regards, Wutsje 23:26, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello Wutsje,
I think that you see it wrong, Xenter was blocked on 20:59, 20 October 2009 while my first revert was on 21:01, 20 October 2009 thats 2 minutes after the blockade, so it would be impossible for me to get involved in a editwar since the user was already blocked.
The only thing that went wrong or could have been better is that the revert and rollback button didn't seem to do such great job :(
Best regards,
Huib talk 04:23, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Why

Hi,

Why this?

I think that is a user account. Sorry Abigor. Deo Volente and Deo Juvente. — Mikhailov Kusserow (talk) 04:09, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Blacklisted entry

Hi, you've recently blacklisted an address that didn't need to be blacklisted at all. There's basically no problem with the link except that it was mistakenly added to several other acticles.

Would you mind leaving the spam reports for the Czech and Slovak Wikipedias up to me? I've noticed that some of your recent reverts on the Czech Wikipedia were useless and sometimes even made a collateral damage. :-( --Mercy 17:54, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Mercy,
No problem by me, but you say somethimes and link 2 times something in the same report that makes it more looking bad than its really is.
Best regards,
Huib talk 17:57, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I checked it again btw and 14 links on one day on 4 projects where its reverted 2 times on your wiki is enough reason for blacklisting in my opinion, I have removed it from the blacklist now, but if it gets spammed over again it will get blacklisted again and you should whitelist locally.
BTW will you check the reports on a daily basis to do the reports you just told?
Huib talk 18:03, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Great, thanks. I think we can handle that.
I've another thing to show you. We keep track of the copyright violations on the cs.wp for some reason but you've removed one of the entries from the list causing that admins who handle with the copyright violations will easily overlook this copyvio.
I check the spam reports several times a week. It's not necessary to check them daily for there's usually not much to do. Cheers, --Mercy 18:13, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I think you are wrong with the last part, I did 30 reports today, 38 yesterday and 262 this month, togheter with the other most active users we did almost 500 reports this month, there is a lot to do and it really needs to be handled every day otherwhise we will have a backlog with more than 100 reports a day. Huib talk 18:19, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I meant there's not so much to do in the spam reports for the Czech and Slovak Wikipedias. :-) --Mercy 18:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I have a idea, shall I poke you next time I see a sk or cz request? :) Huib talk 18:27, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that would be great. I already have the spam blacklist talk page in my watchlist but don't have time to check every request there. --Mercy 18:42, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
