Wikimania 2021/Scholarships/Wikimedia Community in South Sudan/Report
Goals[edit]
Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? The Wikimedia community user group of South Sudan was part of the consortium that applied for a joint grant, through Wikimedia User Group Tanzania, to enable community members to participate in the first virtual Wikimania. The 2021 Wikimania was the first that our community members had the privilege to attend and it was a great opportunity to learn more about the movement and network with fellow community members. It was a yet amazing and exciting moment for our members in the refugee camps as well as to network with other members from different communities who joined the 5-day conference. Our average Wikimania attendance was 3-5 days.

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The members of the community showed up and contributed during the program. The network at the space was never disturbing as in the other settlements
- What did not work so well?
The members didn't all attend The reporting was done late there was poor coordination between the attendees and the coordinator because of the hard to reach internet connectivity and the lack of enough community members
- What would you do differently next time?
Inform about the event earlier to the community members suggest a proper working time to be part of the programs enhance connectivity and coordination by reaching out physically to members
