Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key take-aways per session.
I attended several sessions, as all were interesting. Some sessions that I loved most are as;

Opening Session The opening session of Wikimania 2022 was the first part of my participation. The organizers introduced themselves and conveyed few messages about the sessions that we were hoping for. The interface at first seemed a bit odd but finally I figured out how to use it properly. Once this was accomplished, soon the feed froze and the audio went away. A user posted the link of the YouTube live feed on chat so, I switched to YouTube to watch the event. The opening session seemed a bit difficult at first, once the technical errors were fixed, Wikimania seemed to show its color and the festival started.

  1. Explore Ukrainian culture, start with Wikipedia: The event was about the exploration of Ukrainian culture via Wikipedia. Ukrainian is originator of enormous masterpieces in category of movie, music. It homes amazing architecture and other forms of art which can be explored via Wikipedia if you can't visit Ukrain. This session was aimed to get let more people know about the culture of Ukrain.
  2. Education and Partnership: The core idea of the session revolved around Wikipedia Partnership, How can schools and other institutions benefit from partnering with Wikipedia. Institutional partnership with Wikipedia, helps students as they participate in knowledge projects, It helps teachers by developing their teaching skills. In long run, it will help Wikipedia to gain more editors who have learned the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. To sum it up it is beneficial for both the organizations.
  3. Wikimania Hackthon: This session was about the work progress of volunteers who are creating some amazing apps and about other technical aspects. Alkarapper gave us a live tour of Phabricator, which is used to create technical tasks and report bug. The project by Andrew was amazing which used wikidata to get different forms of the word on a keyboard. Since they have create the keyboard, we contacted them during the chat box is they can help to fulfill the gap on Kashmiri Wikipedia as currently Kashmiri language keyboards don't support all characters.
  4. Podcasting about Wikimedia in your language: This session was how podcasting can play a role in developing Wikipedia. Podcasting in own language can be an amazing means of sharing knowledge about Wikipedia. From this session, I came to know about the importance of podcasting in local language, the resources and equipments needed to do so, and the processes involved in it. We can take remote podcasting by using apps like zoom to record video but the quality can be low. Recording locally for each participant can be the another option but it would require some knowledge prior to recording and extensive time to sync the video.
  5. How to promote your activities and why having a PR and fundraising specialist makes sense: This session covered the details and benefits as of having a funding specialist. We came to know about Wikimedia Czech Republik and how it has grown over time.
  6. Wikimedian of the Year 2022: Last but not least, This was the most amazing session that I attended. It was my first time to listen to Jimmy Wales. The experience was great. I got to know about the Wikimedia of the year and about the small project run by Wales at home. (Butterfly project). During this project musical performances aired were amazing. I came to know for the first time that Wikimedia of the year has different categories which is really amazing. As such people volunteering from different sections of Wikipedia and doing extraordinary work don't get unnoticed.
How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?
I connected with different people from Wikimania via public and private chat rooms. We shared our views about different topics and started to take inter-wiki collaborations. During this a user from Polish Wikipedia showed interest in taking interwiki collaborative projects. We will be exchanging articles to be created from on Kahshmiri and Polish wikipedia.

Watching Wikimania 2022 music sessions with my family was the best celebration I had during this event. Thought we were not able to understand the lyrics, but as said Music is a Universal language.
