How did you attend Wikimania (virtually or in-person)?

I attended both virtually and in-person, if not for the difference in time zones, I might not meet up with some of the key virtual sessions.

What did you spend the scholarship funds on?

I spent a little bit in the repair of my old laptop, but eventually had to get a new one. I spent part of it to buy internet subscription to watch sessions I missed and a Mifi.

Takeaways – choose 3 specific Wikimania sessions you attended and describe your key take-aways per session.

I attended lots of sessions and also watched some of those I missed, not all(because some were in other languages) During the Writing Women into Wiki history, I heard Rosie Stephenson, the covener of Women in red talked about their experiences so far, and how they were able to contribute to the 18percent of Women histories on Wikipedia, how they are able to gain more than 14,000 followers on Twitter, as they leveraged on it to make contributions. She explained their challenges of how they are not able to get enough women to participate in improving the contents as it has been Men who showed interest. I am more fascinated with it, so I signified my interest in participating in their edit-a-thon events. I attended the Organizing a wiki loves monument session where the speaker talked about it being a photo contests and campaign as it's going to be increase contributions on Wikidata, Wiki commons and content contributions on recreational centres and attraction centres. He proceeded to explain that the event should be organized by collaborating with National or regional entities. Lastly, I attended What Professors think about Wikipedia. This is a session I could personally connect with, as a University Student we are mostly not encouraged to cite Wikipedia in our works because they mostly believe it's a free knowledge and open contribution encyclopedia. Some of the Professors further explained their challenges when they introduced Wikipedia to their students to use and contribute to. It was difficult at first, but moving forward, they fell in love with it and their feeling of being able to contribute something to Wikipedia and their identity will be on it with citations.

How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?

Aside from meeting new people, and taking awesome pictures during the local event. I was able to connect with several participants across the world, get their contacts and have been in talks with them till now. I celebrated the Wikimania locally, and we made merries. I joined some sessions virtually too that really felt like it was physical. I must greatly commend the organizers.
