1. Digital Security Basic Digital security is the collective term that describes the resources, tools, spaces, habits and trade offs employed to protect our online identity, data, and other assets. As Wikimedians it is very important to protect ourselves from people who might want to cause us harm due to the nature of some of our edits. One of the best ways to do this is by creating a pseudonym and by choosing specific sites that are known for protecting user data.
2.Wikifunctions: A new Wikimedia Project Wikifunctions is a new project in the wikimedia movement. Wikifunctions can calculate data and add information to existing data, it also provides functions that generate natural language texts, for example taking an abstract text in a particular language and converting it to any of the 300 languages Wikimedia supports. It has not been launched yet but it is still underworks.
3. Human Rights Policy Workshop The human rights policy of the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) was approved by the board in 2021. It commits us to respect, protect and use our influence to advance and uphold the human rights of all those involved with the Wikimedia movement including volunteers and Foundation staff and contractors.
Since the policy was submitted Wikimedia foundation has; Co-developed a universal code of conduct which was already in progress, Approved a human rights policy, engaged the community, continued the human rights due diligence and mitigated the impacts of disinformation.
- How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?
I was able to connect with other participants through some of the session breakouts that were carried out, We were divided into smaller groups to perform various tasks on what we had just learnt. It was a great way of connecting with other participants on a smaller scale.
The Wikimania 2022 event ended with a closing toast, and even though I attended virtually, I was able to join in the celebration with a toast of my own.
