Wikipedia is a project dedicated to the building of free encyclopedias in all languages of the world.
پروژه با ویکی‌پدیای زبان انگلیسی در ۱۵ ژانویه ۲۰۰۱ آغاز شد. در مدت کوتاهی، نسخهٔ فرانسوی و پس از چندی، بسیاری از زبان‌های دیگر به آن افزوده شدند. تلاش‌های بزرگی برای نمایش دادن طبیعت بین‌المللی پروژه انجام شده‌است.
تا آوریل ۲۰۲۴، 325 ویکی‌پدیا دارای بیش از ۱۰۰ مقاله، 171 تا دارای بیش از ۱۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله و 71 تا دارای بیش از ۱۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله هستند.
تا آوریل ۲۰۲۴، نسخه‌های ویکی‌پدیا در 342 زبان موجود هستند که در مجموع بیش از 62,879,059 میلیون مقاله دارند.

Milestones
در ۲۰ سپتامبر ۲۰۰۴ ویکی‌پدیا به مجموع ۱٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله در بیش از ۱۰۰ زبان رسید.
در ۱ مارس ۲۰۰۶، نسخهٔ انگلیسی ویکی‌پدیا از ۱٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله گذشت. ویکی‌پدیای انگلیسی در ۹ سپتامبر ۲۰۰۷ از ۲٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله، در ۱۷ اوت ۲۰۰۹ از ۳٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله، در ۱۳ ژوئیه ۲۰۱۲ از ۴٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله و در ۱ نوامبر ۲۰۱۵ از ۵٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله عبور کرد.
پس از ویکی‌پدیای انگلیسی، نسخه‌های آلمانی (۲۷ دسامبر ۲۰۰۹)، فرانسوی (۲۱ سپتامبر ۲۰۱۰)، هلندی (۱۷ دسامبر ۲۰۱۱)، ایتالیایی (۲۲ ژانویه ۲۰۱۳)، روسی (۱۱ مه ۲۰۱۳)، اسپانیایی (۱۶ مه ۲۰۱۳)، سوئدی (۱۵ ژوئن ۲۰۱۳)، لهستانی (۲۴ سپتامبر ۲۰۱۳)، وینارایی (۸ ژوئن ۲۰۱۴)، ویتنامی (۱۵ ژوئن ۲۰۱۴)، سبوانو (۱۶ ژوئیه ۲۰۱۴) و ژاپنی (۱۹ ژانویه ۲۰۱۶) بیش از ۱٬۰۰۰٬۰۰۰ مقاله دارند.
On 5 September 2015, the Swedish Wikipedia hit 2,000,000 articles followed by the Cebuano Wikipedia on 14 February 2016,[1] by the German Wikipedia on 19 November 2016, by the French Wikipedia on 8 July 2018 and by the Dutch Wikipedia on 8 March 2020.
On 27 April 2016, the Swedish Wikipedia hit 3,000,000 articles followed by the Cebuano Wikipedia on 25 September 2016.[1]
On 11 February 2017, the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 4,000,000 articles.[1]
On 8 August 2017, the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 5,000,000 articles.[1]
On 14 October 2021, the Cebuano Wikipedia hit 6,000,000 articles.[1]
In 2004 Wikipedia won the Webby Award for "Community" and the Prix Ars Electronica for "Digital Community". In 2015, the Erasmus Prize was awarded to the Wikipedia community collectively.
