Public Consultation about the Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle, 13 May[edit]

Dear community members,

Following up on the work of the Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees, we invite you to give feedback on a draft Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle. This draft Procedure outlines proposed steps and requirements for opening and closing Wikimedia Sibling Projects and aims to ensure any newly approved projects are set up for success. This is separate from the procedures for opening and closing language versions of projects, which is handled by the Language Committee.

You can find the details in this letter and the ways to give your feedback from today until the end of the day on June 23, 2024 (anywhere on Earth). You can also share information about this with the interested communities you work with or support, and you can also help us translate the procedure into more languages so that people can join the discussions in their own language.

Thank you for your participation

Board of Trustees selection call for candidates[edit]

Katie Chan has just posted this:

Hello all,

The call for candidates for the 2024 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees selection is now open from May 8, 2024 - May 29, 2024 at 23:59 UTC. The Board of Trustees oversees the Wikimedia Foundation's work, and each Trustee serves a three-year term [1]. This is a volunteer position.

This year, the Wikimedia community will vote to fill four (4) seats on the Foundation Board in August 2024. Could you - or someone you know - be a good fit to join the Wikimedia Foundation's Board of Trustees?

Learn more about what it takes to stand for these leadership positions and how to submit your candidacy on this Meta-wiki page or encourage someone else to run in this year's election.

Community questions for candidates

All community members, including affiliates, are invited to submit questions for the Board of Trustees candidates to answer. From the list of questions, the Elections Committee selects 5 questions for candidates to answer, which the candidates are expected to answer. The selected questions may be a combination of what’s been submitted from the community, if they’re alike or related. Questions can be submitted between May 8, 2024 - June 12, 2024 at 23:59 UTC. Learn more about how to submit your questions on this Meta-wiki page.

Regards,

KTC

On behalf of the Elections Committee and Board Selection Working Group
