The 2008 Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year competition result is out. Horses on Bianditz mountain was chosen as the winner.

	21:	The results of the Licensing update vote have been made public – content is now to be additionally available under CC-BY-SA 3.0.
	7:	Gdańsk is selected to host Wikimania 2010.
	3:	The Licensing update vote has ended, and the result will be announced in mid-May.

	24:	The final of the 2008 Commons Picture of the Year competition has begun, and is open for votes until 23:59 UTC 30 April.
	18:	Wikimania 2009 scholarship applications are being accepted until April 30.
	15:	Wikimania 2009 call for participation deadline is extended to April 30.
	12:	The Licensing update vote has started, and ends on May 3. Please participate!

	28:	9 new Stewards have been elected.
	20:	Wikinews 2008 picture of the year vote (round 2) is now open. All eligible Wikimedians are invited to vote.
	12:	Round one of the 2008 Commons Picture of the Year competition has begun and ends on the 26th. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please consider participating.
	1:	The 2009 Stewards Elections have begun. They end on the 22nd.

	24:	Wikinews 2008 picture of the year vote (round 1) is now open. All Wikimedians are invited to vote.
	16:	DialectWiki as a proposal to preserve dialects for the future has been made. Your are invited to join in on the discussion.
	15:	Russian Wikisource published its first press release about the project in 2008 (see Русская Викитека: итоги 2008 года in Russian).
	14:	Wikibooks has a new logo.
	10:	Candidates in the 2009 steward elections are invited to submit statements before January 25th. The election starts 1 February.
