- According to en:Aramaic language#Modern Aramaic:
- "Over four hundred thousand people speak Aramaic to this day. They are Jews, Christians and Mandaeans, living in remote areas and preserving their traditions with printing presses, and now electronic media. The Modern Aramaic languages are now farther apart in their comprehension of one another than perhaps they have ever been."
- Though I'm not sure if they're referring to Aramaic as simply a collection of modern languages. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, blog) 03:46, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Modern Aramaic is also known as "Syriac" and has its own ISO code, SYR. ARC is for ancient Aramaic only, I think. --Node ue 23:43, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- According to en:Aramaic language#Modern Aramaic:

- ik: No articles. No activity at all, no content.
- Inupiaq is an Inuit language with an estimated 3500 speakers. --Johannes Rohr 16:13, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

- Inupiaq is an Inuit language with an estimated 3500 speakers. --Johannes Rohr 16:13, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- jbo:. Some level of activity, but again a privately-supported conlang (similar to Toki Pona and Klingon) which is a prime candidate for alternative hosting, probably at the official Lojban website (lojban.org), especially since it has only a small following and is not intended as an intauxlang as are, for example, Ido, Interlingua, Occidental, and Esperanto (all four of which we already have thriving Wikipedias for). --Node ue 22:34, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Lojban has other uses which make it reasonable to attempt to collect a public encyclopedia in it. Besides, the guidelines at the top of the page seem to indicate that the basis for determining if locking is appropriate is whether or not people are available to maintain the language at at least some minimal level, not the utility of the language itself. I've started monitoring jbo via RSS and will probably catch any vandalism until such time as the wiki has gotten very busy. (Which will imply the availability of others to maintain things, as well.) Oh, and, what is a 'privately supported' conlang? Lojban has a 501(c)(3) corporation 'supporting' it, not an individual, nor is any of the intellectual property associated with it owned by a for-profit corporation. (Not to knock Toki Pona or Klingon, but rather, to clarify that Lojban is in a rather different state of affairs.) --Jkominek 04:15, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- 1. it has a low level of activity 2. whether or not the language is useful is not a concern. what IS a concern is that 1. it is a conlang with few or no native speakers, 2 the speakers of it generally have another language as their "preferred" language, 3 other organizations have had problems with Lojban in the past 4 Klingon is not supported by an individual or a for-profit corporation, and the point about Lojban being backed largely by a single organization makes it a candidate for alternative hosting. --Node ue 23:43, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Lojban has been proposed as a language to write patents in in Europe, because it is syntactically unambiguous and machine parsable. This shows support from outside Lojban Central.
- There is enough activity on jbo: to keep the translation of the week going. I can't handle it all by myself, but would have done en:manatee had someone not gotten to it first, and I've started ca:Muixeranga, and the others are done. -PierreAbbat 13:21, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- People have proposed lots of things. I could propose Klingon as a language for patents, but what's most relevant is whether or not it got past the proposal phase, and even that's not relevant because this isn't about how good or bad Lojban is. Being machine-parsable is good, yes. But does it nessecitate hosting on Wikimedia servers? --Node ue 23:43, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I don't understand why this is such a big issue? I understand the desire to lock a Wikipedia, if it has a proven problem of accumulating trash and vandalism, but the lojban WP definitely does not fall in that case. Also, in general, if a language WP isn't being used that much, then it's not really taking up any resources: no bandwidth, no man-hours and hardly any storage space. Am I wrong? Exactly how much storage space is taken up by inactive or slightly active WP's? As for a lot of languages of poorer, it would only be natural to expect that those WP's will eventually take off as internet becomes more affordable in those countries. Blabak 08:08, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind too much Lojban hosting its own Wikipedia, if it meant we could fix the capitalization bug ourselves. The first letter of Lojban article titles gets auto-capitalized. Almost all Lojban words begin with lowercase letters, and capitalizing the first letter makes the title either nonstandard or incorrect. This one thing makes me slightly reluctant to work on the Lojban Wikipedia, because it seems like it's in a transient state that will all have to be fixed one glorious day when this option gets switched. Heck, even my user name has to be wrong.
- I've looked at MediaWiki's configuration files, and I think this would be a one line change. I've made a request for this to be fixed in what seemed to be the most reasonable place here on Meta, but got no response. It would be nice if someone with the appropriate access could make this change before dismissing jbo: as dead - I think that having the titles look like real Lojban could encourage more contributors, enough to justify the bit of server space it takes up. 66.92.73.176 04:19, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC) (en:User:Rspeer / jbo:User:RabSpir)

- tlh:. Very little activity in the last month with the exception of this article which is written in the non-universal unofficial Private Use Range area of the Unicode standard (other fonts may use it for different things, for example my default fonts show the text on that page as Arabic calligraphic ligatures rather than Klingon letters). 48 articles, and a prime candidate for alternative hosting at the Klingon Language Institute website, as is currently being done in a paralell situation for tokipona:. I do not favour a locking-only solution. --Node ue 22:34, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

dk.wiktionary.orgshould not exist or should be a redir to da.wiktionary.org, as is the case with the Danish Wikipedia (12 Nov 2004)- still there after 6 months (fortunately no spam/vandalism in the meantime). As a result there are two "Danish" wiktionaries in Erik Zachte's statistics, people may get confused where to contribute.

- Strong keep. I agree regarding Simple English Wikiquote and Simple English Wikibooks, but this is an active Wiktionary (as of Nov 2005), and serves a real purpose. For my reasons, see my user page there. (I am Cromwellt, my apologies for not signing earlier.)
- As I mentioned above, this is an active wiki, which is currently approaching 300 entries. It serves as a resource for users of Simple English Wikipedia, in the same way that English Wiktionary works for English Wikipedia. Oh, and I'm changing my stance regarding the other two simple projects also, but see their entries here for my comments. --Cromwellt|talk 02:29, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

- Keep. This is not at all the same as Wikijunior. This Wikibooks project is for people who are learning English, not for children. As mentioned in various places on Simple English Wikipedia, people who are learning English do not want to read children's books in English, because they are not children. This project, while only having a low level of activity, deserves to exist. --Cromwellt|talk 02:29, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. Per above. There is a significant difference between simple english books, and simple books. --131.111.8.102 15:22, 12 June 2006 (UTC) (w:User:Alfakim).
- Semi-keep, wikibooks is a very small community. But I think wikibooks should stay since it can help english-learning readers/viewers in a way, unlike simple wikiquote. --Alastor Moody (talk) 01:26, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

- Keep. As with the other two simple English projects listed here, this project has a reason to exist. I did not recognize it at first, but this project can take quotes in regular English and explain them in simple English so that English learners can understand them. Also, it can have the interface, Wikiquote: pages, etc. in simple English so that these users (the same ones who use Simple English Wikipedia) can use it. I think it should stay. --Cromwellt|talk 02:29, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
