Invite a public speaker

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Recommendation[edit]

To invite a public speaker for a Wikipedia presentation has some posivite effects. He can explain the special Wikipedia culture of your prefered Wiki, answer questions in the point of the community and his presentation is authentic. A presentation is helpfull to explain delicate problems like copyright and what's up if a student breach it. There are three field-tested ways to recruit such a public speaker:

  • You can also ask a Wikimedia chapter to support or if they know anyone in the local area.

In particular the first option is worth considering. A facilitator knows, beside the other elements, the specific profile of your project. So he can give an individual presentation, can answer a lot of the individual questions and how to realize the goal of the course.
