The Board of Trustees and language subcommittee have deemed that there is sufficient grounds and community to create the new language project. (See an unofficial analysis of this request.) The closing subcommittee member provided the following comment:

Hungarian language has nearly 10-12 million native speakers. Hungarian Wikipedia is already done, with more than 66000 articles. Dorgan 12:17, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

  • We have informed the board that the language committee intends to give final approval. When there is no objection voiced, within a week we will ask the developers to create a wiki. PS it would be nice when the last messages of the extensions are localised .. this is due to changes in the messages themselves. GerardM 10:41, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Hoi, no. The langauge committee is the one that is to ask developers for the creation of a wiki. When the board has an issue, we want to solve things and this may take time. When there is no issue we will ask the developers to create a wiki. GerardM 12:45, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

The procedure works as follows. When in the language committee someone proposed that a project can go life, this is typically decided in a week. After this the board of the WMF is asked if they have an objection. When they do not react, after a week we ask the developers to create a project.
