中文維基用户一直對 Wikiversity 計劃有興趣，尤其容納「原創研究」(original research)一點。近月在 betawikiversity: 之討論再興，而計劃的中文名（維基學院）已定[3]，亦有新教材出現。

中文維基社羣有必要開設維基學院。他們有熱心，愛學習。大多數中文維基人活躍於維基百科；然而，維基百科之模式（不許原創，每題目只許單一而觀點中立之條目）未必適合他們所有學習活動。欲從特定而已宣示之觀點探討一些課題 - 維基學院正係合適之場所。中文維基學院應主動與各項維基媒體計劃交流，互相豐富，正如計劃書所述。

Chinese is a major language with many internet users. There has been on-going interests amongst wikimedians in the Wikiversity project in the Chinese community. The potential of "original research", which is prohibited in wikipedia and many other projects, is particularly well-received. Recently we have seen a revival of activities, and the project name has been determined [4], and new learning resources have been written.

The Chinese Wikimedia community is very much in need of a wikiversity. They are a bunch of enthusiastic individuals, eager to learn. Most of them work on the Chinese wikipedia; however, the wikipedia model (no original research and a single article with a neutral point of view on every topic) may not be ideal for some of their learning activities. Some may wish to explore issues and problems from certain (disclosed) viewpoints - Wikiversity is a natural home for them. A Chinese wikiversity should dynamically interact with the other Chinese projects (especially Chinese wikipedia, which has the largest community) and enrich each other, as stated in the wikiversity project proposal.

确如书生所说，内容实在有些单薄。我个人也觉得即便脱离beta，可能也不会有太大的效果。不过我也不反对就是了，不过脱离Beta时至少需要把繁简的问题一并解决了。--Demigod 11:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Localisation update

• Currently 100.00% of the MediaWiki core messages and 63.39% of the messages of the extensions used by the WMF have been localised for zh-Hans. Localisation of these messages is a requirement before your request is finally assessed. Thanks, GerardM 10:09, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

    • Given that the Chinese use a conversion engine, it includes all the scripts et al they convert to. GerardM 08:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
      • Currently 99.15% core and 55.52% extension used on WMF are translated for zh-Hant. As the conversion engine does not apply on the MediaWiki messages. Shinjiman 13:35, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

          • Currently, 100.00% of MediaWiki core, 100.00% of the messages used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised to zh-Hans. Hydriz 15:09, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
            • MW core and most used MW messages has done. Also, zh-hans translation for extension is done and some messages for zh-hant is on going. Am I right?--Waihorace 04:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
• zh-hans is verified to have finished MW core and Extensions used by Wikimedia. For zh-hant, translations are still on-going. Hydriz 13:04, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
  • I have done the translation for WM main extension in zh-hant. It seems to be all translation is done[5][6]. Can anyone confirm it and can it be submit to Language Committee?--Waihorace 14:48, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
