Now that people presumably not reading wmfcc-l are editing the page, it would be nice to clarify the first line a bit. What's unexpected and why previous jobs? Most stuff here doesn't seem unexpected to me. --Nemo 09:26, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Maybe there's a view that being a burger flipper or donut boy is unusual previous employment for someone now working for the WMF, but I agree with you that doesn't seem unexpected. QuiteUnusual (talk) 09:48, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
So, to clarify, this is a page just intended for WMF staff? to celebrate their accomplishment and look back now that they are at WMF? - I'm not sure why random users and community members are listing their past jobs, or what relevance it would be. No one knows their current job or anything about them personally beyond their username, not to mention, most people are still occupying some of those positions. Am I missing some context here? I guess so! But perhaps there is some value in this for promoting the "anyone can edit" meme. 86.185.136.236
I first thought that would conflict with the "anyone can edit" meme. Anyone and nobodies become interchangeable. Theo10011 (talk) 20:47, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Historical context

In short, no. I've added historical context to the page, in hopes that it clears things up. --Philippe (talk) 05:50, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The historical context here mentioned Lila's past job as a waitress. Lila achieved a very influential position in the tech world hence the news coverage. I am not sure what others were celebrating. Most people just added a couple of new jobs to those past ones - not relevant and too personal to be honest. Theo10011 (talk) 20:47, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Cute act of kindness and care...[edit]

...maybe this should be a category at Meta, so that people can get periodically reminded and inspired? --Zblace (talk) 06:49, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
