Talk:Requests for new languages/Wikisource Volapük

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Localization[edit]

Thank you for the contributions from the Volapük community. Before the Volapük Wikisource can be created, we need to translate the main interface messages. This page will serve as a place for centralized discussion and coordination, while the actual translation will be on the BetaWiki (see BetaWiki instructions and a full list of Volapük interface messages). If you have any problems, comments, suggestions, or questions, feel free to post below and we will be sure they are addressed.

While it would be even better to translate the entire interface, some of it isn't very important and can be translated later. If you see any messages you think don't need to be translated, feel free to mention them here.

The following messages don't need translation before final approval (although you are free to translate them anyway). The * symbol followed by a number means that several messages beginning with that are unneeded. For example, unlock* (6) means that six messages with names starting with "unlock" (unlockdb, unlockdbtext, unlockconfirm, unlockbtn, unlockdbsuccesssub, and unlockdbsuccesstext) are unneeded. The administrator interface is also optional, but future projects in this language will need to translate it.

  • common* (2)
  • edittools
  • exif-* (273)
  • export* (7)
  • feed* (2)
  • import* (27)
  • lock* (8)
  • mainpagedocfooter
  • mainpagetext
  • metadata* (6)
  • monobook* (2)
  • pagetitle
  • unlock* (6)

I can't emphasize this enough: if you have any problems, comments, suggestions, or questions, feel free to post below and we will be sure they are addressed. There's no reason for anyone to be confused or uncertain if we can help it. :)

First question[edit]

I can't tell you how glad I am this project is finally starting! My first question is: in my work for the Volapük Wikipedia, I had already translated most of the messages in the interface (see list here). If there is overlap between Wikipedia and Wikisource messages, couldn't the translations be simply automatically copied over here? Smeira 13:40, 10 October 2007
