Talk:Stewards/elections 2011-2/Questions

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Generally, can we not ask questions that are political in nature? We wouldn't want candidates opposed simply for having a different opinion from voters. Possible changes in policy should be discussed, but not in an election. -- Mentifisto 11:11, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if they are clearly steward related, then it is ok to ask those questions. -Barras 11:15, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. They're related and they're optional. If they don't want to answer them it's their personal choice. -- Dferg 12:07, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nemo asked me a question, which I answered. He then summarized my answer in a way that I don't think is accurate, saying "Ok, I take this as a no". Would it be appropriate to remove his editorial comment? Quadell 18:00, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say no, just put a quick response saying that he came to the wrong conclusion. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:16, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I do believe that you misinterpreted his question. Looks to me like he was asking if you were going to be continuing to spend time doing copyright things even after becoming a steward, and how you would balance your time between the two things. You might want to ask him for clarification on the question instead. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:18, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about possible conflict about image filter[edit]

Someone has notified me of this page and suggested to post a question here; unfortunately it seems the page has been closed for new questions and answers already, so I post it at first here instead of the Stewards/elections_2011-2/Questions#For_all_candidates section, nevertheless would welcome any answers by the candidates. Question:

Dferg is asking the candidates if a global policy or the terms of it can be modified or dismissed by a local policy. For example, in its Resolution:Controversial Content from 29 May 2011 the Board of Trustees has decided to develop a personal image hiding feature and implement it on all Wikimedia projects. The feature has not beend developed yet, and the Wikimedia Foundation held a Image filter referendum/en in August 2011 among Wikimedia users and other persons "to gather more input in to the development and usage". At this stage, can local wikis for their own domain deny an implementation of the filter feature and pertaining filter categories? E.g. a recently finished poll by the German Wikipedia is demanding not to implement an image filter and filter categories on that Wikipedia.

No details are finalised as far as I know (except the fact that the function will be developed). It is too early to make a judgement. I believe the foundation will not ignore the opinion from its second largest community, but if they really decide to make it so on all wikis, projects should obey. --Bencmq 13:15, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
