The last point in the above section of the Ukrainian version contains the term пасивні доходи which in English has been rendered literally as passive income. However, this phrase in English is meaningless as such and will have to be replaced by a more suitable equivalent. What are пасивні доходи?

There is multiple mention of бюджет in the document. What бюджет are we talking about — government budget, organizational budget? The concept of paying taxes into a budget is a foreign one — at least to the western ear... This will have to be clarified in English translation...

Вікімедіа-Україна[edit]

I noted that there was considerable discussion as to whether the above term should be hyphenated or not. I am convinced that it definitely should be hyphenated. We are dealing here, to be sure, with a single concept. Just as we transliterate New York as Нью-Йорк and Wall Street as Уолл-стріт — so, too, this would seem to follow that pattern and the same rule. The rule, in this instance, is that New York is a single concept: we are not dealing with two concepts here separately — the concept of new and the concept of york, but with the single concept of New York. That, of course, is why Ukrainian hyphenates these two words into one upon transliteration.

A separate question is: Why, strictly speaking, are we not transliterating in keeping with transliteration rules the name as Вікімідіа-Юкрейн but choosing to translate both words and rendering it as Вікімедіа-Україна instead? In that case does the hyphenation rule still hold? Or does it get overlooked because we are now translating?--lewko 19:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
