Add topicA feedback from the Swedish wikipedia where we now have run a quality(reliability) project for about three month (based on the experience from the German wikipedia).
We know that the English wikiedia is far ahead of us in the completeness of material and use of references and sources in articles. en:wp can be proud of what has been achieved in these areas.
On the other hand we find that the english wikiedpia is weak in their quality control systems. We often find that wild POV pushers in Sv:Wp (thera are only about 5-10 a year) often are doing their work in en:wp too and that it there takes longer to get them out and their POV text removed. We also see articles of the new pest type - hoaxes and/or articles created for marketing purposes containg made up names/concepts - to still be in the en.wp after we deleted them in sw:wp. En.Wp has here a double challange both in the size but also that all trickers from all wps are drawn to en:wp ("our article is true and relevant, see it exist on en:wp") but still more could be done to implement a working quality control system.
The critical three components in our quality control systems are.
- Regular, full and qualified patrolling of all articles. Of cource this is much easier on sw.wp with only 120-180 new articles, but it mst be possible to get this function implemented on en:wp too. This gatekeeper function checks all new articles on completeness etc, and most important deltes or puts on templates on articles of doubious charater.
- regular and sructured work on the primary classes like wikifying and relevancecontrol. I do not see that en:wpu are having a major problem here, perhaps just some more specialized classes are needed.
- Subject experts looking through short and dubious articles. en :wp are already rather strong in this area. Anders Wennersten 07:37, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
