NoN Proposal doesn't make sense

  • Problem:

Many articles in Wikipedia have very shot list references, but in modern digital libraries there are many book about subject of this articles

  • Who would benefit:

user save time, they have got direct links to book

  • Proposed solution:

title of many articles in Wikipedia are the same as title of classification indexes in library classification system. So it is possible to send request to library system with title of article as subject request and have got list of digital book.

  • More comments:

In Russian State Library, for example, classification system is published as Linked Open Data and all indexes could be requested as

PREFIX text: <http://jena.apache.org/text#>
PREFIX skos: <http://www.w3.org/2004/02/skos/core#>
SELECT
    ?concept
    ?notation
    ?prefLabel
    ?hiddenLabel
    ?broader
WHERE {
  ?concept text:query (skos:hiddenLabel '"subject in Russian"') ;
      skos:notation ?notation ;
    skos:prefLabel ?prefLabel ;
    skos:hiddenLabel ?hiddenLabel ;
    skos:broader ?broader .
} LIMIT 1

As I know many national libraries have API or published their metadata as Linlked Open Data. That is why I suggest to use it as additional tools for enrichment Wkipedia

This proposal doesn't make much sense to me: references are where you took that information from, not where to look for more. Thanks for participating in our survey. Max Semenik (talk) 18:11, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
