Africa Day[edit]

Welcome to the Africa Wiki Challenge, a campaign dedicated to curating and improving the online representation of Africa. Our goal is to bridge the information gap about the continent by creating high-quality content that accurately reflects its culture, heritage, people, and all other relevant information. Without African knowledge and narratives created by Africans, we are prevented from experiencing an accurate representation of our world, our people, our languages, and from being able to contribute to developing this.

To that effect, The African Knowledge Initiative (AKI), seeks to leverage on the Wikimedia tools and platforms to breed innovative solutions to bridging the content gap on global digital knowledge networks.

We believe that everyone deserves access to reliable and comprehensive information about Africa. By contributing to open platforms like Wikipedia and other projects, we can help give the continent the representation it deserves. This year, we are excited to announce that we have access to the African Union libraries for wealth of information and resources about the continent. This collaboration will enable us to add a new dimension to the African narrative and ensure that our content is as accurate and comprehensive as possible.

This year’s edition is under the theme ‘Africa Continental Free Trade’. This seeks to provide a unique opportunity to document Africa's stories and promote the benefits of free trade.

Join us in this exciting campaign and help us to create a better online representation of Africa. Whether you are a student, researcher, writer, or just someone who cares about accurate and reliable information, there is a role for you in the Africa Wiki Challenge. Together, we can help to create a better understanding of Africa and its people, culture, and heritage.
