Reading Wikipedia in the classroom, Kaduna
This project is one of the monthly campaigns of Wikimedia Kaduna Network for the month of February, aimed at creating awareness among teachers in Kaduna Metropolis on the importance of digital material available online. The project team are Ramatu A. Haliru (inyor4mr), Friday Musa (Friday Musa) and Zainab Z. Mu’azu. the project was funded with Micro Grant from Wikimedia User group Nigeria to train teachers on the use of Wikipedia to access, retrieve and use information as open educational resources (OER) which is supported by UNESCO media and information literacy framework. The project assist teachers to have alternative teaching materials which promote quality and effective learning. it was a pilot studies, which gain acceptance.
- The project started 5th – 29 February 2024
- The project has three online session and one physical meet -up that enable participants understand Wikipedia in teaching and learning. 21 participants joined the campaigned which resulted to improving 72 articles were 15 teachers joined as new editors.

- Wikipedia’s pillars
- Wikipedia’s guidelines
- Wikipedia’s article structure
- References and Variability
- Facilitating access to quality academics
- Sources of information
At The end of the campaign google form was used to evaluate participants which shows that participants understand and start using Wikipedia to design their lesson plans.
