This educational collaboration is developed through the volunteers Luis Ulzurrun and Montserrat Sáez, members of Wikimedia Spain; and through Professor Enric Olivares of the Faculty of History of the University of Valencia; in the framework of the teaching education project: ‘The study of the image as an integrating axis of the History of Art (IV). Collaborative online encyclopaedias as a resource for analysis and dissemination in the teaching-learning process", managed by Olivares.

The Wikipedia educational project consisted of two phases. The first was aimed at third-year students of the subject in Spanish 'Historia y gestión del Patrimonio artístico' (History and management of artistic heritage), while the second was developed with first-year students of the subject in Valencian 'Anàlisi i Intepretació de les imatges' (Analysis and interpretation of images).

Phases of the Educational Project in Wikipedia

In November 2023, which is when the collaboration of this project began, work was carried out with third year students in the subject 'History and Management of Artistic Heritage'. Forty-nine articles were published on 39 different aspects. The topics were mainly about little-known protected buildings, such as the Lenguas de Miracle-Gaiato, the Antiguas Oficinas de la Fábrica Refracta or the Aduana Marítima de Valencia, although there were also more common ones such as the Circo Romano de Valencia, several churches or the Palacio de los Condes de Cervellón. Local festivals, paintings and sculptures were also published.

With regard to the impact obtained, 21 articles have been created in Spanish, and 18 articles have been expanded. Meanwhile, in Catalan, six new articles have been created and four have been expanded.

Finally, it should be noted that 56 participants attended, 40 women and 16 men. Moreover, of this group, 39 managed to upload their drafts to Wikipedia or have edited directly on it.

In addition, 31 of the participants also collaborated with the sister project Wikimedia Commons, obtaining a total of 266 new images, referring to the articles they edited.

In April 2024, the second phase, the project was carried out under the first year subject 'Anàlisi i Intepretació de les imatges', focusing mainly on works -almost all paintings- located in the Fine Arts Museum of Valencia. Around 30 themes were edited, and at least two people worked simultaneously in two languages.
